Along with unearthing the ruins at Masada they found 5 date seeds that were carbon dated back some 2000 years ago. Permission was given to plant 3 of the seeds. They soaked the seeds in warm water, fertilizer and hormones. They potted the seeds and after 6 weeks the first sprout appeared. It is so amazing that these date seeds, for all intended purposes were supposedly dead for 2000 years and in each seed is all the DNA necessary to produce a massive date palm tree.
